How It Started
From palace guide to travel strategist
Kristīne's journey into travel writing began after completing her Tourism Management degree at the University of Latvia in 2010. She took a position as a cultural guide at Rundāle Palace — the kind of job that's supposed to be temporary. But something clicked.
Walking visitors through those baroque rooms, explaining the history and architecture, she realized she loved connecting people with Latvia's stories. So she stayed. She spent years at Rundāle, then transitioned into travel content creation. This wasn't a career pivot — it was a natural extension of work she was already doing.
Over the next decade, she spent countless weekends exploring. Sigulda's castles in autumn. The Jūrmala coastline at sunrise. Kuldīga's waterfalls. Talsi's quiet squares. She wasn't just visiting these places — she was understanding what made them compelling, what details mattered to visitors, what stories didn't make it into the standard guidebooks.
In 2018, her regional travel guides were adopted by Latvia's National Tourism Board. That recognition established her as an authority on weekend getaway planning. Today at vilmorenas SIA, she combines field experience with meticulous research to produce itineraries that feel personal, not generic. She's driven by a simple belief: weekend travel should be intentional, immersive, and authentic.
